Lets find out if this is the case...
Have a look at this chart from Smartbench 2011:

..........
LG Optimus 3D has managed to score:
Productivity Index score: 2729
Games Index score: 2822
(These scores were average of 6 tests)
How does this device compare to other devices?

As you can see, Texas Instrument's latest processor is rather competitive to NVIDIA's Tegra 2 based devices! Was this surprising? Not really. Both OMAP4430 and Tegra 2 are based on dual-core ARM Cortex A9 design, both are clocked at 1GHz and although the origin are totally independent, both Tegra 2 GPU and Power GSX540 are already proven to be roughly equal. Perhaps the Games Index score turned out to be a bit higher than expected as 2822 is probably the highest score achieved by any stock 1GHz Hummingbird based devices so far.
Conclusion:
LG Optimus 3D, using Texas Instrument's dual-core OMAP4430 processor, produces numbers that are comparable (perhaps just a bit better) to those produced by LG Optimus 2X and Motorola Atrix which uses NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors. This should not surprise you.
